Recent Makeup Hits & Misses
So lately, I’ve been trying a LOT of new makeup products. It’s kind of been a new hobby I guess you could say… or bad addiction! To me, makeup is fun and I can’t resist trying the newest viral products - thanks TikTok! That being said, a lot of products live up to the hype, while others fall flat. I always like to share my honest opinions with you guys so you don’t waste your hard earned dollars on makeup that doesn’t impress, while also letting you know which ones I love and would buy again and again… think of me as your human guinea pig. So without further ado, here are some recent makeup hits and misses…
Hits:
Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish Setting Powder (shade Fair) - I love to set my foundation with a powder because I feel like it makes my makeup last so much longer and just gives it that “finished look”. This Charlotte Tilbury one sets my makeup beautifully and I feel like it blurs out my pores so well. It not only lives up to its name, and is a universally loved product for good reason. Highly recommend this one! I’ve already bought a second!
Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Longwear Foundation - I recently wore this foundation for my brother’s wedding and I was amazed at how long it lasted (through the heat and humidity)! The coverage is amazing but doesn’t feel heavy. I have to be honest, it might be my new favorite foundation. I wear shade 4 neutral! I got it about a month ago and truly have been LOVING it. On another note, this one is nothing new but if you’re looking for a more affordable price point, I’ve been sharing my love for the Tarte Babassu Foundcealer for over a year now!!! - The Charlotte Tilbury foundation is definitely a new “hit” for me, but since I’ve been going back and forth between the two so I had to share this one because it’s a tried and true favorite! Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Liquid Blush (shade Happy) - This is another new find that I’ve been loving! This blush gives you the ultimate glowy, lit from within look. It’s super pigmented at first, but it blends in really well and has become my newest obsession lately. A little bit goes a long way so don’t use too much!!
KVD Super Pomade Vegan Eyeliner, Shadow & Brow Pigment (shade Light Brown) - This product is super versatile - it’s great for brows or a natural eyeliner look. The best part is it stays all day! I originally got it for my brows, but realized it also looks good for those days that I just want a really subtle liner look. I use this brush for application on both my brows and lash line.
Tarte Maneate Temptation Eyeshadow Wardrobe - I am OBSESSED with this eyeshadow palette - the colors are amazing and super pigmented! They blend so well, making it easy to achieve almost any eyeshadow look. Plus, it’s compact and perfect for traveling. Use code kathleenpost for 15% off
Misses:
Keep in mind that I’m not bashing any of these products or brands! In fact, I actually really like all of these brands and have other products from them that I love. Just wanted to share honest opinions!
KVD Good Apple Skin-Perfecting Hydrating Foundation Balm - This product went VIRAL on TikTok, so naturally I had to try it! There are so many videos of people using this to cover birth marks, tattoos, blemishes, and hyperpigmentation. I must say, when I applied it at first, I loved it!! The coverage is amazing and it looked so good but sadly, it separated throughout the day and didn’t stay well on my skin. That’s why I wouldn’t recommend it for oily or combination skin types.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Freeze Styling Wax - I wanted to try the brow wax trend, but this one felt a little too thick and clumpy. I felt like it was hard to not get too much product on the brush and when it dried, it felt like there was some white residue left behind. I was really hoping to love this one!! Instead, I prefer this clear eyebrow gel - it has a thinner consistency and brows stay in place all day. No white residue and no clumps!
Hourglass GIRL Lip Stylo (shade Activist) - I love this lipstick in other colors, but the shade Activist was a little too “pinky” for me. I like the shade Idealist much better!
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder - This powder just didn’t live up to the hype for me. I was hoping it would be sort of like a setting powder, but it was a little too shimmery for me and didn’t compliment my foundation. I like this Charlotte Tilbury one much better in the shade Fair.
Tarte Hydrocealer Concealer - I LOVE Tarte’s Hydroflex serum foundation, and since this is from the same line, I was hoping to like it as well… but the coverage was a little too light for me. I just don’t feel like it did much concealing. I like this Tarte concealer much better which is amazing and a definitely a favorite of mine. I just prefer more coverage. As always, you can use code kathleenpost for anything at Tarte!
I hope you all enjoyed this series! Let me know if I should do more of these!
